The $IP grift takes a new turn.

In February 2026, Story Protocol initiated a one-time, six-month delay to all unlocks $IP tokens for the team, investors, and insider tokens. This pushed back a massive cliff and start of linear vesting six months from February 13 to August 13.

Now, 49 days in advance of the rescheduled massive cliff and start of linear vesting for the team, investor, and insider tokens, they are pivoting to AI and pivoting from $IP to a new token, $DATA. Right in time for them to start the narrative pump before the cliff and unlocks.

I am not fooled. Thrilled for Korean retail to pump the new token $DATA so I can once again short this grift.

Imagine Snowflake saying:

"Actually we’re building humanoid robots now."

Or DoorDash:

"Food delivery was harder than expected. We’re now an autonomous trucking company."

That's basically StoryProtocol and $IP.

"IP onchain" was the pitch (wtf was that?). It was the GTM. Now the thesis is AI data infrastructure.

Startups pivot, and that's fine.

But in crypto, the token gets to keep moving from story to story without ever resetting the original sale.

Imagine every public company simply announcing a new narrative while shareholders automatically rolled into it.

Crypto calls that Thursday.
